Deploy a bot over SFTP with FileZilla
Host, port 2222, login bot-xxxxxxxx: how to upload your bot files over SFTP, without a terminal, and avoid connection lockouts.
Every ACLClouds bot has its own SFTP access. With FileZilla or another SFTP client, you upload the bot code to the server, then restart the bot from the dashboard. This article covers the connection, what to upload, and what blocks an SFTP login.
- Each bot has its own SFTP access: host, port 2222, login bot-xxxxxxxx and password.
- Upload the code, not node_modules: the free storage is 715 MB.
- 6 failures within 10 minutes block the login for 15 minutes.
Find the login details
The login details are in the bot’s Settings tab, in the “SFTP access” card. Only the owner of the bot can see them.
- Host: the address shown in the card.
- Port: 2222, not the usual SFTP port 22.
- Login: bot- followed by eight characters, specific to this bot. The password can be shown, copied or changed from the same card.
Connect with FileZilla
In FileZilla, the connection uses SFTP. Once connected, the remote folder is the bot’s folder: drop the project files into it as you would into a local folder.
- Site Manager, new site: protocol SFTP, host, port 2222, login and password from the card.
- Drag and drop package.json, the start file and the src folder from your PC.
- Do not upload node_modules or cache folders: they are heavy and the free storage is 715 MB.
Avoid connection lockouts
After several failures, the server refuses logins for a while. A badly copied password is enough to get there, because every attempt counts.
- 6 failed logins within 10 minutes block attempts for 15 minutes.
- During the block, do not retry more often: wait, then copy and paste the password from the card.
- If the password seems lost, use the Change option in the “SFTP access” card.
Why ACLClouds for a bot deployed over SFTP
SFTP access is included in the bot offer, including the free plan. There is no terminal to configure to upload your code.
- Free plan: 1 bot, 315 MB of RAM, 0.25 vCPU, 715 MB of storage, uploads up to 100 MB.
- SFTP access specific to each bot, on port 2222.
- The Node.js and Python images include ffmpeg, yt-dlp and deno.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the port 2222 and not 22?
The SFTP of ACLClouds bots listens on port 2222. Set it explicitly in FileZilla, or the connection fails.
Who can log in to a bot’s SFTP?
Only the owner of the bot sees the “SFTP access” card and its details. Do not share the password: change it if you think it leaked.
Do I need to restart the bot after an upload?
Yes. Once the files are uploaded, restart the bot from the dashboard so the new code is loaded.
