What a small VPS can run

Memory is the resource that limits a small VPS first. With 8 GB, several lightweight services can run side by side: a web server and its database, a few Docker containers, an automation tool and some bots. The CPU matters mostly for long tasks, such as compiling or image processing.

• A WordPress site or a static site with Nginx or Caddy.
• A Node.js, Python or PHP API with its database.
• Several Discord bots managed by PM2 or Docker.
• n8n, Docker with Portainer, Coolify or Dokploy, installable when you order.

What not to ask of it

An entry-level VPS is not built for a modded Minecraft server with many players, a database of several tens of gigabytes or a high-traffic website. In those cases, memory or disk runs out at peak times, and a bigger plan or a dedicated game service is a better fit.

The traps of a low price

At the same price, two VPS are not equal. Check that the public IPv4 is included, that the RAM is dedicated rather than shared, and that the displayed price is the renewal price. Look at backups too: if they are not included, you have to set them up yourself.
