The Node.js or Python version is incompatible with the project
Check the project requirements, select the correct Node.js or Python version and reinstall the native dependencies.
Unsupported engine errors, syntax errors or a missing compatible Python wheel appear when the project and the container image target different versions.
Step-by-step procedure
-
Read the constraints
Check engines in package.json, .nvmrc, runtime.txt, pyproject.toml or the framework documentation.
-
Choose a maintained version
Prefer an LTS version of Node.js or a Python version explicitly supported by your project’s dependencies.
-
Rebuild the modules
After a major version change, reinstall the dependencies to replace the native binaries compiled for the old version.
-
Test the command
Run node --version or python --version at the start of the diagnosis, then run the main script again.
