How do I import or replace a Minecraft world?
Prepare an archive, stop the server and select the correct world folder.
A world contains several files and subfolders. Archive the whole folder before uploading it to preserve its structure.
Step-by-step procedure
-
Create a backup
Back up the current world before replacing it.
-
Prepare the ZIP
The archive must directly contain level.dat, region and the other world folders, with no extra folder level.
-
Stop the server
Wait for the complete shutdown to prevent Minecraft from overwriting files during import.
-
Import from Worlds
Use the Worlds or Files page, upload the archive then select the active world.
-
Check level-name
The name configured in server.properties must match the world folder.
