Installing a Forge, NeoForge or Fabric modpack

Align loader, Minecraft and Java, then import the modpack server files.

A modpack generally imposes a precise version of Minecraft, the loader and Java. Always use the server pack provided by its publisher.

Step-by-step procedure

  1. Read the prerequisites

    Note the Minecraft version, the loader, Java and the recommended RAM on the official modpack page.

  2. Choose the right egg

    Use Forge, NeoForge or Fabric depending on the package, then select the requested version.

  3. Download the server pack

    Do not upload the client archive directly. The server pack excludes visual-only mods and contains the server configurations.

  4. Import and extract

    Stop the server, import the archive into Files then unzip it to the root.

  5. Start and diagnose

    Follow the console. A mixin, dependency, or Java error almost always indicates a version mismatch.
